4th July – Is your business ready to re-open?

We are now only a few days away from the 4th July, what is also being known as “Super Saturday”. For many businesses who have been closed due to the government lockdown here in the UK since the end of March, this will be the first time that many of them will have opened their doors for over three months.

It’s been a difficult time for many businesses right across the UK, especially smaller, local businesses who rely on footfall and the holiday season to sustain their business.

But it’s not just small businesses that have been affected. Many larger companies have struggled as well.

Many have missed going to the barbers or hairdressers for their hair cut during lockdown

For many people, not being able to go to the hairdressers or barbers or enjoy a drink with their friends in a pub has been something they have not experienced in their lifetime. You have to go back all the way to the second world war to have seen such restrictions on movement in place.

So with the lockdown being eased this weekend, many businesses are already looking forward to the “boom” that this release could generate. Although there are still restrictions in place for some locations – gyms, swimming pools and nail bars for example, for the majority of businesses they will now be free to open up, albeit with some restrictions in place for safety of their customers and staff.

So this week, if businesses haven’t already, they will start thinking about sprucing up their shops and showrooms, ready for the influx. And with that comes the issue of their roller shutters.

Roller shutters, like any moving part, need regular maintenance and servicing to ensure that they are in the very best condition. Unfortunately, if the mechanisms are not maintained, and especially if they have been closed for a long period of time, they may become difficult to open or, even worse, not open at all. And this could cause a big problem with the run up to the big re-open.

Thankfully, MJM Roller Shutters are on-hand to help!
